The Book of Acts is often cited for its model of the early church. Through the stories that the apostle Luke shares, we find unsurpassed revival and growth! We also see that revival is being driven not through human effort but through the power of the Holy Spirit. Despite the challenges they faced, the Holy Spirit was guiding and directing them to where they should go to deliver the Good News. One of the greatest examples of this work of the Spirit is found in the 16th chapter of Acts. Paul and Silas are traveling town to town preaching the Good News strengthening the faith of believers along the way. But they are interrupted in their plans when they are prevented from entering Asia by the Holy Spirit, who sends them to Phrygia and Galatia instead. They weren’t meant to deliver the Word in Asia at that time. Then they decide to travel to Bithynia, only to have the Spirit redirect them once again through Mysia to Troas. Paul and Silas had to look inward and search their hearts to remind themselves who and why they were serving. Only then could they conclude in verse 10 that God was truly calling them to preach in Macedonia and resolve to go there to do His will. For several years, SCC has been directed in much the same way, having been relocated from five different spaces in four different communities. We have faithfully served the communities where God has placed us. Now he is moving us once again but this time, He is keeping us in the same community to continue His work that was started two years ago! Our brothers and sisters at Hollywood Church of the Nazarene have graciously opened up their facility to us on Saturday evenings. Starting on Saturday, December 1st, we will begin having service @6pm at 5901 Taylor St in Hollywood. We are excited to step through this new door of opportunity that God has opened. We hope you’ll visit us soon at our new location and time! Click HERE for directions. 6 Next Paul and Silas traveled through the area of Phrygia and Galatia, because the Holy Spirit had prevented them from preaching the word in the province of Asia at that time. 7 Then coming to the borders of Mysia, they headed north for the province of Bithynia, but again the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them to go there. 8 So instead, they went on through Mysia to the seaport of Troas. 9 That night Paul had a vision: A man from Macedonia in northern Greece was standing there, pleading with him, “Come over to Macedonia and help us!” 10 So we decided to leave for Macedonia at once, having concluded that God was calling us to preach the Good News there.~Acts 16:6-10 (NLT) ~~New location starting Saturday, December 1st!~~ |
